Inaction Is Easy
Today is 26th May 2026. It feels exactly like how Arjuna felt in the Mahabharata war, what to do and what not to do, but the difference is whether to embrace the AI slop and this whole FOMO and hype-driven market, or just be stagnated.
At the same time, it feels like the best time to do the things, change the world. The market dynamics are changing, to everything, and at the same time it feels like nothing is making sense. Whether to even participate in this war sometimes becomes the question. But as Krishna said, inaction is not allowed in this game. I must keep going on in the momentum. Changing things is allowed. Changing the goal is allowed.
I had this thought/question: what would i have advised my 6 month younger self before this whole AI thing got started on to the main drive seat. While thinking about it, i realised they are still relevant and i can still apply them so my next future 6 month ahead Karan would appreciate things.

Relationships are very important. Invest in them and have patience, don’t think too much about it and just do what makes you happy and more human. It’s okay to be irrational, nobody is coming and going to give you medal for being rational and not all things need to make sense. Ego games are not worth it.

Money is important. Have no shame in earning it and be proud about it when you earn. You need it for survival, that is the blunt reality. It’s okay to optimise for money also and it does solve a lot of money problem, so don’t be like money will take care of itself, one needs to be intentional about it.

Building personal character or spine is very important. Only taking yes man or derived opinions from other credible people maybe true, but you haven’t understood or are not ready for that wisdom yet. Nobody knows your life and you better than yourself, so question it, try to break it, do something to see whether it works or not, try them. Have personal opinions and express them more.

Context switching is important. You may think you can do things in sequence but do remember one thing, it takes time for things to compound, and early you start is better, but spreading yourself too thin among things is also wrong so be aware about the nuance.

Write more without trying to impress anyone and publish. Let it feel like cringe, nobody cares that much, it has only more upside. Don’t try to go for quick hack wins, you will get caught and feel bad when you realise its impact later on. Do it for yourself not for others and be honest about things and things take time.
-
Take more ownership than you actually think you are doing and actually deliver with all the under constraint things and environment. You may think you would have overdelivered and how great you are based on that, but judge only on what you have done so far or what you have delivered, not on future potential. Potential without work has no meaning. You are only good as your last work, not future potential nor past achievements, you are only as good as your last win.

Realistic daydreaming with preview reward is not good thing. Stop fantasizing about it, and don’t stop your daily actions or things according to some maybe probabilistic event. Bayesian probability is good but the recursion version is not for both good and bad scenarios. You can’t stop living your daily life or go into inaction mode because of some third party event which you can’t control. You complete your job, when it happens you react that time, not early. Life is too uncertain anything can happen, and i mean anything, and you can’t be prepared for it but can be cautious.

Do reach out to your friends and mentors when you feel or remember and also when you don’t feel like reaching out. They are the one who makes your life more like life than long running treadmill. Do irrational things, gift things, call randomly with no agenda, don’t try to find too much logic or overthinking when they don’t get back to you. All are figuring things out in life and maybe stuck somewhere in the process, just enjoy the moment and bliss. Remember Kanye said: people never get the flowers while they can still smell them.

Most people didn’t tell me i will suck at most of the things in starting, and it is worst feeling, but with the time i suck less and get better, and that phase is the hardest to pass and one needs to just keep pushing through the hazy cloud of thoughts, so just one day AI comes and nukes the whole thing, lol, but going through it makes your internal world model evolve, which is required and important so anyway go through that thing and adapt.

You may feel like you are doing great work or making progress but it is important that you don’t fool yourself and keep in touch with the reality by talking to actual humans not chatbot/AI and verifying the progress to some outcome. Index yourself on outcome not output.
Yeah i think these are all the hard learned things which i thought past Karan would have appreciated, but he will make mistakes anyways and will learn the lessons one way or other way, so it’s okay, take chill pill and don’t overreact or underreact, just take things as they are.
